Evoke the sights and sounds of Spanish colonial streets from this renowned UNESCO World Heritage site with each sip of our single origin coffee from Antigua, Guatemala. Our Guatemala Antigua is a full-bodied, balanced coffee with a captivating aroma. We give a medium roast to this coffee in order to improve the body of the brew and bring out its natural tones of lemon, chocolate, honey, and spice.
The rich, fertile soil in Antigua remains nutrient-dense and moist thanks to volcanic ash from the three area volcanoes: Volcán Agua, Volcán Acatenango, and Volcán Fuego. Coffee production here began on small plantations during the mid 1800s, with foreign introduction of Arabica into what was recognized as an ideal environment for year-round growth. Antigua’s stable weather patterns, ideal growing temperature, and high altitude create perfect conditions for consistent coffee harvests. With much of the water and climate needs of their coffee plants met, coffee farmers in Antigua focus their efforts on regulating shade through careful planting and pruning of taller trees over the coffee fields. This ideal balance of light, humidity, temperature, and fertile soil gives Guatemala Antigua coffee its perfect mix of flavor and intensity.
